Stretch Marks Information

For many people, the quest to find a way to get rid of stretch marks and prevent new ones, has led them to try all sorts of creams, lotions and potions. They’ve tried them all, but none of them work. Until now.

It’s hard to believe, but there are treatments that work if they contain the correct ingredients. The mistake that many treatments make is that they fail to treat both layers of the skin, the dermis and the epidermis. Because stretch marks are unique in that the ‘scar’ doesn’t penetrate the epidermis, a successful treatment must treat the under layer of the skin (dermis) somehow. From our research, we’ve come to the conclusion that a good stretch mark supplement will provide a dual action treatment reflecting the needs of the epidermis (nourish) and the dermis (repair).

Many studies have demonstrated specific ingredients that benefit ‘skin healing’ and as such, we were able to identify ‘key’ ingredients beneficial for stretch marks: they include silicone, Allium cepa (Onion) bulb extract, aloe vera, several flower oils and vitamin E. Where others have failed again and again, finally these key ingredients have come to light that can change our lives.

So what should you look for in a stretch mark treatment?

We expect you to be wary – we were, too. We have all been let down by products that promise to help us treat stretch marks, only to find a month later that nothing has changed. But there are treatments out there that work–if you find a legitimate, quality product.

Whenever a ‘craze’ hits the market, dozens of companies spring up overnight to try and cash in. As a result, you’ll find lots of watered-down products that promise results they simply can’t deliver.

A good product will use the highest-quality ingredients that have been clinically proven, and contain ingredients such as silicone, Allium cepa (Onion) bulb extract, aloe vera, several flower oils and vitamin E. You should also look for reputable companies that sell a range of products.

When you see a company that’s only selling a stretch mark treatment and uses some hot marketing word in the name, you’re going to want to steer clear.

If you want to try out a stretch mark treatment check out our review of stretch mark products, where we analyzed the ingredients, company reputation, customer reviews, and more, to help our readers find the supplements that don’t mess around. Now, you don’t have to scratch your head when you Google stretch mark treatments and end up with 25 different results. We’ve taken the guesswork out of the equation!

What makes an effective stretch mark treatment?

The secret lies in the ingredients it contains and if they were proven most effective in clinical studies. An effective treatment will provide a dual action solution that treats both layers of the skin and provides the ultimate in skin repair and rejuvenation. First, it must repair the dermis, healing from the inside plus it should provide the ultimate in skin nourishment, feeding the skin essential oils, vitamins and nutrients to rejuvenate and revitalize.

Sieva Skincare Stretch Mark & Scar Removal Cream

Falling just short of our number one selection is Sieva Stretch Mark & Scar Removal Cream. Their product does contain some good ingredients but we felt that it was a little too watery. Their number one ingredient is ‘deionized water’ and while this is essential for a good product, it shouldn’t be the main ingredient. That being said, it does contain aloe vera, tocopheryl acetate and jojoba oil and the ingredients in the product were clearly stated on the label. We felt that it was definitely a well made product.

We did find the price a little on the high side. At over $60 a bottle/tub we felt it was a little too expensive, especially for such a watery solution.

Our own tests showed that it was a good product, but we all know that stretch mark treatment needs to be tackled internally and externally. Unfortunately, the treatment was missing some vital ingredients such as silicone, onion bulb extract and emu oil. If they want to charge such a high price, we felt that they should thicken up the treatment and add some of the top clinically proven ingredients, therefore we rate this only as our #2 spot. That said, if you don’t mind taking a chance, this product might work for you.

Protege Advanced Stretch Marks Therapy

This product is made by a company called Protege. This product contains Aloe Vera Powder Extract however, this is not the same as the aloe vera gel, and is simply not as effective. The benefits of aloe vera gel are well documented in clinical studies for treating burns/scars, not the powdered extract.

Since the company itself has a good track record and most consumers I spoke to were pretty satisfied with it, I still consider this to be a solid product. Just remember that it has a few slight disadvantages.

Furthermore, it does not contain Allium cepa (Onion) Bulb Extract which we felt was the number one ingredient to help heal scars. This means that you may not see results as quickly as you would do with our #1 product.

If you don’t mind waiting longer to see results, then this product could be right for you.
