This moisturizer is aptly called The Moisturizing Lotion by a company called EviDenS de Beauté. Created by a French man and inspired by the beauty of the Japanese culture via his stunning wife, this is a lotion with a great story. We decided to investigate whether the formula of this lotion was as compelling as the story behind it.
The good news is that this cream does contain one patented ingredient, as well as, 4 other active ingredients containing, among them, crucial emollients. One of its main selling points is that it has Eau de la Foux. This pure, mineralized, spring water is said to have curative properties and is the basis to all the products in the EviDenS de Beauté skincare line.
The bad news is that the cost will alienate most consumers. This product is marketed to an élite crowd who will think nothing of spending over $200 on one jar of moisturizing cream. In our research of this company, we found videos which seemed a bit over the top, clearly trying to appeal to a very exclusive market.
This is no doubt a luxurious brand with some quality ingredients. However, it does not contain as many active ingredients as the previously reviewed brand. Additionally, it is difficult to find many reviews in English and it is unclear whether the Eau de la Foux has real healing properties or is just a European gimmick to sell products to Americans. However, the extremely steep price tag is staggering and renders it unaffordable to most people.
Retrouvé Intensive Replenishing Facial Moisturizer contains a mix of emollients and humectants in order to keep the skin hydrated and rejuvenated. In addition, its key ingredients are vitamin based and stem-cells are used to firm and plump skin. The company claims to use high concentrations of these ingredients, but exhaustive research did not reveal what those concentrations are.
The customer reviews were limited to those who received free samples. It's understandable because of the hefty price tag, but it does leave us wanting to see truly objective feedback. That said, most reviews were positive, the complaints we read included that it wasn't suitable for all skin types. While it was good for dry skin, it was not a good fit for normal to oily skin.
Our own tests showed that it is a luxurious feeling moisturizer which absorbs easily into the skin. It seems to have a good research-backed formula which is why it is surprising that the company would not be completely open about the concentrations of its active ingredients.
