Boosting Memory & Cognitive Function

The older we get, the more our memory starts playing tricks on us and the less cognitive energy we have. In order to keep our brain cells sharp and minds focused, it is important to nourish them with the best that supplements have to offer. Our memory is involved in every aspect of our lives, from the simplest day-to-day activities to the much more complex, challenging tasks. Therefore, it's important we give it all the help we can.

It’s hard to believe, but using natural nootrpics to boost short/long term memory is the secret we have all been waiting for. Nootropics, also known as ‘smart drugs’, have been around for years, but have only recently become more widely accepted. They work to boost memory, assist cognitive function and protect brain health. From our research, we’ve come to the conclusion that such supplements can work wonders given the right formula!

Several leading doctors and nutritionists have endorsed ingredients known to promote cognitive health, specifically memory, such as B vitamins, phosphatidylserine, Bacopa monnieri, and alpha-GPC. Another important ingredient is Lion’s Mane adaptogenic mushroom, which functons optimally when paired with a bioenhancer such as BioPerine®, which increases nutrient absorption and speeds up results. Other ingredients shown in clinical studies to have memory boosting capabilities include ginkgo biloba and green tea.

So what should you look for in a memory boosting supplement?

We expect you to be wary – we were, too. We have all been let down by products that promise to boost cognitive abilities and help support a healthy memory, only to find a month later that nothing has changed. But there are some supplements that really do work – if you find a legitimate, quality supplement.

Whenever a craze like this hits the market, dozens of companies spring up overnight to try and cash in. As a result, you’ll find lots of watered-down products that promise results they simply can’t deliver.

A good supplement will use the highest-quality ingredients that have been clinically proven and provide optimal cognitive support on multiple levels. You should also look for reputable companies that sell a range of supplements.

When you see a company that’s only selling a memory boosting supplement and uses some hot marketing word in the name, you’re going to want to steer clear. They're often trying to ensnare you with their marketing but have only a low quality product to offer.

If you want to try out a promising supplement to enhance short/long-term memory, check out our review of some of the top products, where we analyzed the ingredients, company reputation, customer reviews, and more to help our readers find the supplements that don’t mess around. Now you don’t have to search endlessly through supplements to find the good ones. We’ve taken the guesswork out of the equation!

What makes a memory boosting supplement so effective?

The secret lies in the ingredients it contains. Clinically-proven ingredients such as B vitamins, Lion's Mane mushroom, Bacopa monnieri, phosphatidylserine, alpha-GPC, and ginkgo biloba are necessary to nourish and protect the brain as well as to enhance memory, focus, and cognition. A source of antioxidants such as green tea to provide the ultimate brain protection is also necessary. Finally, it should include a thermogenic enhancer such as BioPerine to boost results.

An effective memory boosting supplement should work on dual fronts: first, it should provide the brain with nutrients to improve cognitive abilities such as memory, attention, focus and clarity. Second, it should provide nutrients that support optimal long-term brain health to prevent cogntive decline due to aging.

Essentially, the correct blend of ingredients should provide the ultimate boost for both short and long-term memory as well as optimize cognitive function to ensure a healthy mind until a ripe old age!

Momentous Brain Drive

This promising supplement includes a few excellent ingredients, such as B vitamins and Bacopa monnieri, which target memory, cognitive function, and brain health. It is third-party tested as well as GMO- and gluten-free. Unfortunately, there were some additional ingredients we wanted to see included in the formula which would have elevated this product to a much higher level. Without these to guarantee an effective product, nor a satisfactory money-back guarantee, this product only made it to the #2 spot.

Another slight concern was that it contained caffeine and we felt that this lowered the safety of the product a little, as many people could suffer side effects from this.

We also found that the tablet count was 32 caps per bottle. They recommend taking up to 4 per day depending on size and tolerance. This would mean that the bottle could last less than two weeks, making this an expensive product. Additionally, the dosage advice is a little vague and we felt that it may put consumers at risk since without clear dosage guidelines, there is a danger of overdosing.

Our tests did show that it was a good product, but we all know that supplements don’t always work the same way for everyone. Even though BrainStack seems to have some good ingredients, it is missing several key ingredients that we felt should be included. Additionally, this could work out to be very expensive if consumers take the recommended dose of up to 4 per day, not to mention the danger of overdosing. These reasons ended knocking it down to the #2 spot. That said, if you don’t mind taking a chance and money isn’t an issue, this product might work for you.

PureHealth Research Ageless Brain

This product is a proprietary blend containing some good ingredients, such as Bacopa monnieri, phosphatidylserine and some B vitamins. It is vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free, which is excellent news for consumers. However, the brand is not transparent about the quantities of the ingredients included in the product, which makes it seem like they have something to hide. Also, we found that the Amazon reviews for it were mixed. Read the full review to see if this supplement is the best one to improve your memory.

The price, although slightly on the expensive side, is pretty much in line with other similar products out there. However, one of our main concerns was the extra ingredients it contains and the possible side effects these may have. The extras included silica, lecithin, microcrystalline, cellulose, magnesium stearate and gelatin. The latter, especially, provided huge concerns for us, gelatin capsules are totally unsuitable for many individuals to digest and we felt this was a huge negative for this product.

If you don’t mind taking a product that isn’t completely open about ingredient dosage and amounts, plus you do not have an aversion to a capsule made of gelatin, this could be right for you.
