Thyroid Information

For many people, men and women, the quest to find a way to support, nourish and balance their thyroid leads them to supplements. They’ve tried them all, but none of them work. Until now.

An estimated 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease, and the majority are unaware of their condition. If your thyroid gland is not working right, it produces too little or too much of the thyroid hormones (T3, T4 and TSH) that regulate body functions. This can lead to a host of health issues including mental slowing, depression, dementia, weight gain, constipation, dry skin, hair loss, muscle stiffness and pain, even irregular menstruation or infertility.

It’s hard to believe, but there are some supplements that do actually work. From our research, we’ve come to the conclusion that given the right ingredients at the correct dosage, supplements can work wonders in balancing the thyroid, both nourishing and supporting it in the most natural way possible alleviating symptoms associated with an under active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) as well as aiding prevention of future complications and disease associated with bad thyroid health.

Studies have demonstrated a variety of ingredients that are beneficial in maintaining thyroid health and managing symptoms associated with hypothyroidism. Several leading doctors and nutritionists, have endorsed such ingredients which include Iodine, Selenium, Magnesium, Vitamin B12 plus a range of other proven minerals, vitamins, amino acids and herbs.

Each play a significant and effective role in balancing and nourishing our thyroid. Where others have failed again and again, finally these natural clinically proven ingredients have come to light that can change our lives.

So what should you look for in a thyroid supplement?

We expect you to be wary – we were, too. We have all been let down by products that promise to help us support good thyroid health, only to find that this is not really the case. But there are some that really do work–if you find a legitimate, quality supplement.

A good supplement will use the highest-quality ingredients, which have been proven effective in clinical studies. You should also look for reputable companies that sell a range of supplements containing key ingredients that balance hormone levels, support effective adrenal and pituitary gland function, nourish nutritional deficiencies and stabilize thyroid hormone levels.

When you see a company that’s only selling a thyroid supplement and uses some ‘hot marketing words’ in the name, you’re going to want to steer clear.

When you see a company that’s only selling Forskolin and uses some hot marketing work in the name, you’re going to want to steer clear.

If you want to try out this promising supplement, check out our review of thyroid products, where we analyzed the ingredients, company reputation, customer reviews, and more to help our readers find the supplements that don’t mess around. Now, you don’t have to scratch your head when you Google thyroid supplements and end up with 25 different results. We’ve taken the guesswork out of the equation!

What makes an effective thyroid supplement?

The secret lies in the ingredients it contains and their doses. Natural vitamins, minerals and plant extracts that include Iodine, Selenium, Magnesium, Vitamin B12, Zinc, Copper, L-Tyrosine, Schisandra, Bladderwrack and more, provide your thyroid with the vitamins and minerals that it may be lacking to function properly. Thyroid supplements should work naturally with your body to balance, nourish and support the thyroid gland, resulting in healthy thyroid function, balanced hormone levels, elevated antioxidant boost, strengthened immune system, adrenal and pituitary gland support to ensure optimal thyroid health.

Terry Naturally Thyroid Care

Falling just short of our number one selection is Terry Naturally Thyroid Care. This product does have some strong points, it contains iodine (as potassium iodine and molecular iodine from kelp) but failed in our eyes for not containing more essential ingredients that would offer a total care solution for thyroid health such as selenium, magnesium and vitamin B12. However, the other additional ingredient it does contain is L-Tyrosine, essential for thyroid health and we felt that it was definitely a well made product.

There are also limited consumer reviews posted. We would have liked to see some customer reviews. Without being able to see a range of either positive or negative reviews it does leave us with some questions as to the effectiveness of this product.

Our own tests showed that it was a good product, but we all know that supplements don’t always work the same way for everyone. Even though Terry Naturally Thyroid Care has two essential ingredients, we felt that it failed to provide a total support system because of missing ingredients. Together with the lack of customer reviews, this ended up knocking it down to the #2 spot.

Christopher’s Thyroid Maintenance Review

This product contains some good natural ingredients associated with thyroid health, but it does not contain iodine, which in the correct dosage, is essential for thyroid management. It does contain kelp which will provide small doses of iodine however, not enough. Furthermore, they fail to provide a detailed breakdown of the separate ingredient amounts which for us raised red flags. Consumers need to know how much of each ingredient they are taking, especially true, when it comes to iodine to ensure overdosing does not occur.

That said, it does contain some good ingredients and since the company itself has a good track record and most consumers we spoke to were pretty satisfied with it, we still consider this to be a solid product. Just remember that it has a few slight disadvantages.

It only contains kelp derived iodine which we feel is insufficient to provide what the thyroid needs to function correctly. This means that you may need to take an extra supplement to support this missing vital thyroid managing ingredient. This could be expensive and detrimental to thyroid health if not managed correctly. Furthermore, as they fail to provide a comprehensive breakdown of all the ingredients contained within this supplement, we remain unsure of how effective it really is.

If you don’t mind taking an extra supplement for iodine, then this product could be right for you.
