Life Enhancement InsuLife-B Review

Life Enhancement Products has been creating and manufacturing products for over 25 years, making them a well-established company, and one that claims a commitment to quality ingredients and excellent customer service. They have at least 80 different products formulated for a wide range of health concerns, and Insulife-B by Dr. Jonathan V. Wright is part of their large "Life Enhancement" collection. The longevity and wide range are two variables that give us an element of confidence in the company and its experience and ability to create quality products.

Like our first pick, our second choice provides a variety of ingredients and nutrients. It should be noted that there are two very similar products in the range, and we have chosen to focus on InsuLife-B, with the addition of Berberine, rather than InsuLife, in an effort to make this a fairer comparison. Read on to find out why, even with a formula that looked good at first glance, this product didn't quite live up to the promise and make it to our first Pick.

Is Life Enhancement InsuLife-B Effective?

We often look at customer testimonials to get an idea of how effective a product is and how satisfied customers are. On the company's own website, the results were mixed; many customers wrote extremely positive reviews, but there were others who were more negative, including those who failed to see any difference in their blood sugar levels at all. To get a wider sample, we also looked at external websites, where we saw similar patterns, with a majority of excellent reviews as well as some at the opposite end of the spectrum. This variety of responses is only to be expected, as supplements are always going to work better for some people than others, but we were certainly impressed by the positive testimonials.

In addition to testimonials, we mainly judge a supplement based on its formula. InsuLife-B contains some of our key ingredients. Each serving provides 500mg Berberine, 252 mg Cinnamon, 33mg Mulberry and 333mcg Chromium Picolinate. It also provides 200mg Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) which impressed us too. However, these essential ingredients were not necessarily included at the quantities that were used in clinical trials - too much of an ingredient can be harmful, and too little can render it ineffective. We also spotted that they were not always from the same source that we recommend.

For example, the 500mg Berberine in InsuLife-B is from an Oregon grape root extract rather than the Berberine HCL like our first choice contains. The quantity is definitely impressive, but it's not necessarily better, as the beneficial compounds in Oregon grape Berberine can be harder to define. Additionally, the Berberine in InsuLife-B has not been combined with BioPerine® or any other bioavailability enhancer. Let us look at another example: the 33mg quantity of Mulberry in InsuLife-B, known for its properties to help reduce carbohydrate absorption, doesn't compare so well to the 250mg clinically-studied quantity that Lown et al. wrote about in the PLoS One.

Some of the remaining ingredients in this formula, such as Quercetin, Resveratrol and Vanadium, are good, but the quantity contained is so small and insignificant that they can hardly be thought to contribute to the effectiveness of the product. And we would have liked to see the inclusion of Vitamin B12 and Magnesium in this formula too.

Is Life Enhancement InsuLife-B Safe?

Life Enhancement believes that quality is paramount and claims to use raw materials that are responsibly sourced, pharmaceutical-grade, high quality and lab-tested. However, it was hard to know whether this company's products are 3rd-party tested because we didn't find mention of this on the company website, nor did we spot any proof of cGMP certification, unlike the more rigorous standards adhered to by our first pick.

Unfortunately we have no way of knowing if there are any additional health warnings related to InsuLife-B because this information was not mentioned on the company website, nor could we see all angles of InsuLife-B's label. But no matter what your health condition, it is always recommended that you speak to your doctor before adding any supplements into your diet.

Summary

Life Enhancement presents itself as a transparent company, with a label for InsuLife-B that is openly available online and accessible on the company site. It has a good list of ingredients for what it aims to achieve. We were happy to see a high quantity of Berberine HCL, Cinnamon Extract and ALA, even if they weren't necessarily the exact type that we recommend. However, there were other ingredients that were either included but not at the clinically-proven quantities, or not included at all, such as Vitamin B12 and BioPerine®. We believe that these additional ingredients would have improved this product's effectiveness and ranking.

Although we found a majority of excellent testimonials for this product, we were surprised to see how these included many customers who commented positively on the price of Insulife-B. At just over $96 dollars for a single bottle, we felt that this was beyond the means of the average customer, especially as it's the kind of supplement to be taken on a regular, long-term basis. The company's money-saving "Subscribe and Save" option helps, but $77 dollars still comes out to a higher price point than most available blood sugar supplements and was one of the reasons why we didn't rate it higherk. We don't believe that even a "Premier Signature line" product needs to cost this much.

Finally, the 90-day 100% money-back guarantee also impressed us (even if the website Returns page made some strange, unrelated mentions of products that aren't available for purchase). Not every supplement manufacturer backs their products with a strong guarantee that displays confidence in the product’s ability to satisfy customers.
