We consider Yacon Slim to be a better quality Yacon Syrup product because the company uses 100% Pure Yacon Syrup. However, the syrup contains only 30% FOS and includes additional ingredients, falling short of our #1 product, which offers 50% FOS with no additional ingredients. In our eyes, this lowered the value of the product. The upshot is that consumers will need to take more of it to reach the same dosage taken in the clinical study. In addition, they will also be taking other supplements that were not tested in the clinical study and possibly in unhealthy high doses. That said, this product is still relatively decent quality, so we wanted to give you the complete rundown.
Is Yacon Slim Effective?
When a product claims to be made from 100% Pure Yacon Syrup, by all means it should be effective. Let us stress, should be. One issue that raises a slight red flag here is that Yacon Slim contains additional ingredients, which Dr. Oz specifically said to avoid as it can block the absorption of FOS. Because each dose has only a small amount of these additional ingredients, it was hard for us to say how much of an effect these added ingredients would have on the product’s actual effectiveness. In the lab, its ingredients showed consistency with the label claims.
o we went looking to see what consumers had to say, and it seems that quite a few users experienced little to no weight loss on this formulation. Those who tried to return the product were able to get most of their money back (only for unopened containers, though) which is another reason we included this company in our list.
Some other elements of this product also were not so straightforward. While this product is sold at GNC, which is very convenient if you need to buy more, there were no customer reviews to be found on their website, either positive or negative. There is also no guarantee by the company on the product’s effectiveness and results.
Yacon Slim might have a little better luck with effectiveness if they made the potency of their syrup just a little stronger and avoided including all of the additional ingredients including water. They were almost there with a quality product, but not quite.
Is Yacon Slim Safe?
We did not find any ingredients in this product that would cause it to be unsafe, such as un-certified stimulant ingredients or other herbs. As for Yacon Syrup in general, when in its pure form, it is deemed to be a safe herbal supplement if taken according to proper recommendations. There are no reported side-effects and it can be taken with most medications.
Our main concern is that this product is not the full recommended strength for Yacon Syrup, so consumers might try to take more in order to achieve the results they want. For instance, if people tried to take the full daily dose of 50% FOS, they would need to take twice the recommended daily dose listed on the bottle which would also increase the dose of the other ingredients. The clinical study pointed out that you should only take 100% pure Yacon Syrup with no additional ingredients.
Summary
Yacon Slim had the right idea in making their product with 100% Pure Yacon Syrup. However, the inclusion of additional ingredients in their product and lower strength of FOS per serving may decrease its effectiveness. The price was pretty competitive compared to others on the market, but we thought it was a little expensive for a product that doesn’t contain the recommended amount per serving and comes with little reviews. Our final say is that these capsules would need to be little higher in potency and rid of the added ingredients to get a higher grade.
